Gel wax, also known as gel paraffin, is a type of paraffin derived from petroleum. It is obtained through the refining and multiple processing steps of crude oil in industrial facilities. It is used in candle making. It is transparent in color and has a flexible structure. It is odorless. It burns four times longer than paraffin and burns cleaner compared to paraffin. Its melting point is between 90-95°C. Its freezing point is between 50-60°C. Since it may be harmful to human and animal health, it is not recommended to inhale it directly during melting and freezing. Use of a mask is advised. It is recommended to melt the product using a double boiler method and to stir continuously during melting. The melting process is not complete until the form becomes fully liquid. Depending on your wick choice, it may produce soot and smoke. As it is a flammable raw material, extra caution is advised when melting and burning the candle.
