Troubleshooting
Why does a candle have a weak scent?
A weak scent is most often too little fragrance, a load beyond the oil saturation, a short cure or a thin wick. In Soya Wax 50, 6–10% with a ceiling averaging 8%; wait 48 hours to 1 week.
-
Weigh the load
Measure the fragrance by grams. The oil saturation of Soya Wax 50 averages 8%; stay in the 6–10% band. Counting drops by eye is not enough.
-
Add it after the heat
The wax should be homogeneous at ~51–55°C, not boiling. Stir in the fragrance after the heat; volatile notes escape in boiling wax.
-
Cure and burn
Wait at least 24 hours, and 48 hours to 1 week for scent. Trim the wick to ~5 mm; the pool should reach the edge. A cold room does not spread scent.
When oil saturation is exceeded
Excess fragrance causes sweating and soot; the scent does not get stronger. If you see oil on the surface, lower the load. The sweating guide is separate.
Wick and container
A thin wick leaves tunneling, and the scent stays locked in the wax. Use a size suited to the diameter, a double wick if needed. In a glass container, Soya Wax 50 is a container job.
